UGC API

A Postiz alternative for UGC posting

Postiz is an open-source social media scheduler with a hosted cloud. UGC API is a posting API and dashboard built for UGC across many creator accounts. Both have an API, MCP and n8n. They differ in pricing, scope and how much you run yourself.

What each product is

Postiz is an open-source social media scheduler licensed under AGPL. You can self-host it or use the hosted cloud. Its homepage leads with running your social media on autopilot with AI agents. It lists 30+ networks, a calendar, analytics, and an API, webhooks, MCP server, CLI and n8n and Make integrations on all plans.

UGC API posts to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook Pages and YouTube Shorts. One request or one dashboard click fans a video or slideshow out to many accounts, each in the platform's native format. It is built for teams that post a lot of UGC across many creator accounts and want to pay per post.

Prices and limits for other products are from their public sites at the time of writing (October 2026). Plans change often, so check their current pricing page before you decide.

Where UGC API is different

The main difference is scope. Postiz is a general scheduler for a brand or agency running social profiles. UGC API is a distribution layer for UGC: many short videos and slideshows going out over many creator accounts.

  • Spread scheduling. A campaign takes 300 posts and 30 accounts and builds the schedule: round-robin, per-account cadence, local times, staggered minutes. You don't build the calendar by hand.
  • Dry-run preview. Add "dry_run": true and see every post's time, account and the credits it will use before anything is created.
  • Native formats per platform. One slideshow becomes a TikTok photo post, an Instagram 4:5 carousel and a Facebook photo post. One video becomes a TikTok video, Reel and Short.
  • TikTok details. Drafts to the creator's inbox, the AI-generated content label, privacy chosen by the user and a creator info check before each post, as TikTok's API requires.
  • Pay per post. No plan and no per-account fee. Failed and cancelled posts are refunded.

Self-hosting is free, but not zero work

Postiz being open source is a real advantage. You can read the code and run it on your own server. The cost is operational. To post to TikTok, Instagram or YouTube from a self-hosted install you need your own developer apps on each platform, and each one goes through that platform's review. TikTok's audit checks the composer UX in detail.

Public GitHub issues on the Postiz repository have discussed its TikTok composer and TikTok's audit UX rules, and slideshow posts staying in the queue. We haven't tested this ourselves and issues may already be fixed. If TikTok photo posts matter to you, read the current issues before you commit. UGC API uses its own approved TikTok, Meta and Google apps, so you don't need app approvals of your own.

Where Postiz may fit better

  • You need networks beyond our four, such as X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky or Reddit.
  • You want to self-host for data control or cost, and you can handle app approvals.
  • You post a lot to a few channels. Unlimited posts on a $29 plan beats per-post pricing once volume per channel is high.
  • You want an open-source codebase you can change.

Migrating from Postiz

  1. Sign up and claim 50 free posts. Create an API key in the dashboard, or skip the key if your team works in the dashboard only.
  2. Reconnect accounts with UGC API connect links. Tokens from Postiz can't be transferred, because each provider uses its own TikTok, Meta and Google apps. Send each creator a link, set an external_id so the account maps to your own user ID, and the creator approves access without sharing a password.
  3. Map your existing jobs to POST /v1/posts for single posts or POST /v1/campaigns for many posts over many accounts. Run the campaign with "dry_run": true first to check the schedule and the credit count.
  4. Point post.published and post.failed webhooks to your handler and verify the signature.
  5. Run both tools side by side for a week. Pause the accounts in Postiz as each one goes live in UGC API, so nothing posts twice.

A worked example: 3,000 posts over 100 accounts

An agency runs 100 creator TikTok and Instagram accounts and posts 1 piece of content per account per day. That is about 3,000 posts a month. On Postiz cloud this sits on the 100-channel plan at $99 a month. On UGC API it costs 3,000 credits, which is $30 at the $10 per 1,000 price, or less with the 5,000 and 10,000 packs.

In UGC API the agency uploads the month's hooks and sends one campaign with the 100 account IDs and a cadence of 1 per day. The dry run shows the schedule before any credit is used. If 5 accounts disconnect mid-month, their posts wait and the other 95 keep posting.

How to choose

  • Pick Postiz if you want open source, self-hosting or many networks.
  • Pick UGC API if your content is UGC video and slideshows on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, you run many accounts, and you want to pay only for what you post.
  • Test both with real content. Our 50 free posts cover a small campaign over a few accounts.

FAQ

Is Postiz free?

The open-source version is free to self-host under AGPL. You pay for your server and do your own platform app approvals. The hosted cloud starts at $29 a month at the time of writing.

Is UGC API cheaper than Postiz?

For many accounts with moderate volume, usually yes: 100 accounts and 3,000 posts a month is $30 on UGC API. For a few channels with very high volume, Postiz's unlimited posts can cost less.

Can I import my Postiz accounts?

No. Platform tokens can't move between providers. Each creator reconnects once through a UGC API connect link.

Do both work with AI agents?

Yes. Both have an MCP server. UGC API's remote MCP server uses OAuth and works with Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.

Does UGC API post to X or LinkedIn?

No. We post to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook Pages and YouTube Shorts only.
