UGC API in your coding agent

If your UGC comes out of code (a Remotion render, an ffmpeg script, an AI video pipeline), your coding agent is already sitting next to the files. Give it the UGC API MCP server and it can publish what it just built.

One server, every editor

Every client below uses the same remote server, https://ugcapi.dev/mcp (Streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.1 with PKCE). The first tool call opens a browser to sign in.

Cline and other clients

Add a remote server of type Streamable HTTP with the same URL. Clients that only support local stdio servers can use npx mcp-remote https://ugcapi.dev/mcp as the command.

A loop that pays off

  1. Your agent edits the template and renders 20 variants into ./out.
  2. It uploads them (or serves them from your CDN) and calls preview_campaign for your accounts.
  3. You read the plan in the chat and say go. It calls create_campaign.
  4. Next week it reads get_stats, finds the top hooks and renders more like them.

When to use the API key instead

MCP is for a person in the loop. For CI jobs, cron scripts or an agent that runs without you, call the REST API with Authorization: Bearer ugc_live_…. Same endpoints, same credits. See the quickstart and agent frameworks.

FAQ

Can I use my API key with the MCP server?

No. /mcp uses OAuth so a person approves access. API keys are for the REST API at /v1.

Will my coding agent publish by accident?

Publishing tools are marked as changing things, so clients ask before running them. Our server instructions also tell the agent to confirm accounts, caption and time first.

Do local files work?

The server needs a public https URL. Upload with POST /v1/media from a script, or serve the render folder from your CDN.
